Herbert Rhodes, Director of the California Department of Parks and Recreation (on the left) accepts the deed to wildflower lands from Jane Pinheiro and William Penn Mott Jr., President of the California State Parks Foundation Circa 1960: Jane Pinheiro documents the majestic beauty of the desert through her wildflower art Pinheiro was a driving force behind the creation of Saddleback Butte State Park (1960) and, along with Dorothy Bolt, Milt Stark and many others led fight the to create the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve (1976).
